Industry NewsAndhra Bhavan to open Cork City restaurant at redeveloped Finn's Corner on Grand Parade
South Indian restaurant chain Andhra Bhavan is to open its fifth outlet in Ireland at the redeveloped Finn's Corner site at the junction of Grand Parade and Washington Street in Cork City, with an opening date confirmed for September following the final stages of fit-out at the prominent city centre location.
The Irish Examiner reports that the restaurant is being opened by Hyderabad natives Praveen Madire and Sainath Reddy, who currently operate three restaurants in Dublin and one in Belfast, marking Andhra Bhavan's first expansion into Cork.
The new outlet will occupy the ground and first floors of the building, with seating for 65 covers. Recruitment for front-of-house and kitchen roles is due to begin next month ahead of the September opening.
The Finn's Corner building takes its name from the Finn family, who operated a sports store at the junction for four generations before closing in 2020. The site was subsequently redeveloped to accommodate restaurant and café uses across the lower floors, with apartments above.
"We are excited to bring Andhra Bhavan to Cork and become part of the city's vibrant food scene," said Madire and Reddy. "Cork has a strong appreciation for quality food and diverse cultures, and we look forward to welcoming customers to experience authentic Andhra and South Indian cuisine. What started as a dream between two friends from Hyderabad has grown into a brand that celebrates our heritage while creating memorable dining experiences for communities across Ireland."
The Cork opening forms part of a broader period of expansion for the operators, who also plan to open an international outlet in Gurugram, India, in July, signalling appetite for growth beyond the Irish market.
The Finn's Corner development sits within a stretch of Cork City centre undergoing notable change. Nearby Singer's Corner has closed, with a Gala convenience store due to open at that address, while Bishop Lucey Park recently reopened to the public following a €7 million two-year refurbishment programme.
