The Inn at Dromoland reopens as The Rine following major refurbishment in County Clare

Ireland-based The Inn at Dromoland has completed a major refurbishment and reopened under a new name, The Rine, with owners revealing the transformation details this week, the Irish Independent reported.

The rebranding references the winding river known as the Rine, or Abhainn na Rinne in Irish, which runs through the property. Positioned as a sister property to the five-star Dromoland Castle Hotel, The Rine operates within 500 acres of parkland and woodland on the County Clare estate.

Earlier in the year, the hotel outlined its design vision focusing on combining natural materials with modern comfort standards. The refurbishment programme exposed original stonework whilst creating adaptable reception areas suitable for events and celebrations.

Historic wood panelling remains installed along corridors, now complemented by neutral wall tones, green accent colours and subtle lighting installations. Consistent flooring materials extend throughout the property, with geometric detailing incorporated into stairway design.

The leisure centre refurbishment introduced retro-style blue pool tiles alongside mid-century influenced stone textures. Sauna and steam room areas received warmer finish materials intended to enhance the thermal experience.

Social media posts this week showed behind-the-scenes footage of final refurbishment stages. "It's been a busy few weeks as we bring the final pieces together, from signage to screens and everything in between," the hotel stated. "The details are landing, the new chapter is taking shape. Rooted in Clare. Ready to welcome."

The project balances preservation of heritage architectural elements with updated interiors reflecting current hospitality design standards. The name change establishes a distinct identity whilst maintaining the property's relationship with Dromoland Castle.
